Here’s yet another music video I recently produced for my friends Saturday Night Gym Club for a song from their new EP, the song is called Suddenly the feeling are ours and the EP is called The Nowhere Team.

With this video I explored the concept of ‘datamoshing’ or creating artefacts and errors in the video to use as part of the creative palette.

The basic idea behind datamoshing is to remove keyframes or ‘i’ frames from the video content at key points, allowing the pixels from one scene to be carried over into the movement of another.

Here’s the first of a series of videos I recently produced for singer / songwriter Unkeepable, AKA Stephen Marsden

More of his stuff can be found at http://unkeepable.co.uk

The audio was recorded by my good pal Steve Wilson down at Canalside / The Bunker studios in Stalybridge - visit him here - http://www.manchester-recording-studio.co.uk/

Here’s my first product review for www.astrings.co.uk

Sean Roche came down to our house on a rainy Sunday night recently and made some more magic come out of his fingers.

This one is called Red Light Syndrome, check his channel out here

Here’s a video I shot and edited for Manchester’s finest purveyors of Neil Young flavoured Americana ‘The Cornelius Crane’ in a warehouse in Dukinfield on a a freezing cold November night. We eventually managed to start shooting after an hour and half looking for the key to the building we’d arranged, we PERSEVERED and got there in the end. I think it looks great.

You can see and hear much more about the band over at www.thecorneliuscrane.co.uk

Ear Defender Hack

Click the top picture to learn how to make your ear defenders play sweet secret music to you at work in ten easy steps.

Great for people who like music while they are -

  • Drilling roads
  • Directing Planes
  • Building Towers

Have a look at this, The Birthday Suit (Ex Idlewild guitarist Rod Jones’ new project) at the Ruby Lounge that I took part in shooting along with a bunch of other DSLR Ninjas on a cold February night. Spectacularly edited by Daniel Kenyon, the entire gig is up on YouTube or have a squiz at Play Nice TV for the lowdown.

A few pictures from the Music Cuisine showcase night in Nelson, Sean Roche, Effluence and Saturday Night Gym Club. All are involved in one way or another with Music Cuisine

This is a video I shot and recorded with Sean Roche and Steve Wilson, Sean writes incredible fingerstyle guitar pieces, check him out on Facebook to see more.

I do do other things besides videos for SNGC you know, this however isn’t one of them.

Shot behind Morrisons in Wood Green, London with a Dancer I met on the internet called Chloe Agligianni, she did a great job considering I had no experience of working with Dancers and was right into the spirit of spontaneous creative endeavor. Follow the links in the YouTube description for more info on what is quite obviously one of my favourite bands.

Here’s a music video I was involved in the production of, concept and direction by Sam Green from Music Cuisine, shot by Mark Tattersall and edited by my good self

Here’s the brand new video I produced for How to Build a Life Raft by Dancefloor Storytellers, Saturday Night Gym Club, it was shot on a tiny budget on my 5d2 and edited in Final Cut Pro, look out for their debut EP this summer, it promises to be off the old heezy, blow ya horn!

Just putting the finishing touches to a new promo for Saturday Night Gym Club, a new Anglo-Irish Electro-pop band who describe themselves as ‘dancefloor story tellers’ according to the BBC page for their upcoming Radio One Big Weekend show on Saturday the 14th May. I think they’re awesome and really enjoyed working on this video with them. Finished article should be up here in a day or two.
